Quantitative noise analysis of jitter-induced nonuniformly sampled-and-held signals

چکیده
Traditional jitter-noise analysis which mainly focuses on the clock jitter errors for impulse-sampled signals cannot accurately model the sampled-data systems that practically include nonuniform sample-and-hold effects. This paper presents a comprehensive and robust analysis of the imperfections of nonuniformly sampled-and-held signals due to clock jitter. Both the general signal to overall jitter noise ratio, and also the Spurious Free Dynamic Range subjected to narrow in-band noise tone will be derived in closed-forms. Finally, a practical analysis of the timing-skew effects in designing a 21.4 MHz IF sampleddata filter for radio applications will be addressed to illustrate the effectiveness of the derived formula.

Reconstruction of Nonuniformly Sampled Bandlimited Signals Using Digital Fractional Delay Filters: Error and Quantization Noise Analysis
This paper deals with the problem of reconstructing nonuniformly sampled bandlimited signals. This problem arises in, e.g., time-interleaved analog-to-digital converter (ADC) systems due to time-skew errors. A synthesis system composed of (ideal) digital fractional delay filters for the reconstruction was recently proposed in [1]. In this paper, we briefly recapitulate the theory and continue w...
متن کاملSpectral Analysis of Sampled Signals in the Linear Canonical Transform Domain
The spectral analysis of uniform or nonuniform sampling signal is one of the hot topics in digital signal processing community. Theories and applications of uniformly and nonuniformly sampled one-dimensional or two-dimensional signals in the traditional Fourier domain have been well studied. But so far, none of the research papers focusing on the spectral analysis of sampled signals in the line...
متن کاملTiming-mismatch analysis in high-speed analog front-end with nonuniformly holding output
This paper will present a practical and complete analysis of timing-mismatch effects for high-speed Analog Front-End (AFE) systems with the inherent nonuniformly holding outputs. The analysis reveals first the relationship with traditional impulsesampled timing-mismatch effects and then its closed-form expressions of the signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR), in terms of the number of channels, signal fr...
متن کاملMethods for Spectral Analysis of Nonuniformly Sampled Signals
The key element of Digital Alias-free Signal Processing (DASP) technology is the application of nonuniform sampling. In this case majority of the conventional signal processing algorithms cannot be directly applied. For the implementation of DASP, a set of new approaches was developed. The paper discusses several approaches suitable for spectral analysis of nonuniformly sampled signals. These i...
متن کاملRetrieving sinusoids from nonuniformly sampled data using recursive formulations
— A heuristic procedure based on novel recursive formulation of sinusoid (RFS) and on regression with predictive least-squares (LS) enables to decompose both uniformly and nonuniformly sampled 1-d signals into a sparse set of sinusoids (SSS). An optimal SSS is found by Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) optimization of RFS parameters of near-optimal sinusoids combined with common criteria for the estimat...
